Saat ini Internet bukanlah hal yang tabu atau baru lagi di Indonesia.
Pertumbuhan pengguna internet di Indonesia pun tidak main-main. Bayangkan saja menurut data APJII pada tahun 2008 pengguna internet di Indonesia baru mencapai 8 persen dari jumlah penduduk, namun sekarang hampir semua orang Indonesia menggunakan internet dan bahkan memiliki akses internet di rumah dan handphone mereka masing-masing.
Hal ini membuktikan bahwa tingginya tingkat pemakaian internet di Indonesia
karena dengan internet kita bisa mendapatkan berbagai informasi yang tidak kita ketahui.
Dengan internet kita juga bisa berinteraksi lewat jejaring sosial yang sedang trend saat ini.
Seperti penggunaan Facebook, twitter, Skype, Yahoo mesengger dsb..
Bahkan indonesia seringkali menjadi penyumbang trend topic dalam jejaring sosial twitter.
Dan juga banyak hal yang bisa kita manfaatkan dari internet itu sendiri.
Pekerjaan akan lebih mudah dengan internet. Kita bisa browsing materi – materi kuliah atau sekolah dari internet. Kita dapat mengirim pesan (email) lewat internet.
Bahkan yang sedang berkembang saat ini yaitu bisnis di internet atau yang sering disebut dengan E-commerce. Dengan internet kita dapat berbisnis dan lebih mengefesiensikan biaya bila berdagang lewat internet. Seperti contohnya online shop. Mereka tidak perlu menyewa tempat untuk menjajakan barang-barang dagangan mereka. Jadi dalam segi ekonomisnya mereka lebih bisa meminimalkan biaya. Dan dalam dunia perbankan ada E-banking kita dapat melakukan transfer rekening lewat internet. Dan banyak informasi-informasi lain yang dapat kita ketahui lewat internet.
Oleh karena itu di indonesia pemakaian internet itu sendiri mengalami kenaikan yang signifikan. Karena banyak manfaat didalamnya. Sehingga masyarakat tertarik untuk menggunakan internet.
